What You Need

  • 500g Minced beef or lamb

  • 1 Large onion, finely diced

  • 2 Carrots, diced

  • 2 tbsp Tomato purée

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 300ml Beef stock

  • 800g Maris Piper potatoes, peeled

  • 50g Butter & 50ml Milk for mash

How to Make Traditional Shepherd's Pie

1. Step 1

Brown minced meat with onion and carrots in a skillet.

2. Step 2

Stir in tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce, and stock; simmer for 20 minutes.

3. Step 3

Boil and mash potatoes with butter and milk until smooth.

4. Step 4

Transfer meat filling to baking dish, top with mashed potato, fork ridges, and bake at 200°C for 25 minutes until golden.
