How to Make Classic Marshmallow Rice Krispies Squares

1. Step 1

In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter completely. Add the mini marshmallows (reserve 1 cup for mixing in later) and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.

2. Step 2

Remove pot from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and optional salt. Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and reserved unmelted marshmallows until evenly coated.

3. Step 3

Gently press mixture into a parchment-lined 9x13 pan using wax paper or greased spatula. Do NOT press down hard! Let cool 30 minutes, then slice into squares.
